They say travel is the best way to fall in love all over again. For my husband and me, our trip to Kerala—fondly called God’s Own Country—was not just a vacation, but a beautiful journey of togetherness, adventure, and serenity.
From misty hills to calm backwaters and golden beaches, Kerala offered us the perfect blend of romance and rejuvenation. Here’s a glimpse into our unforgettable trip.
🌄 Day 1-2: Munnar – A Love Affair with the Hills
We began our trip in the scenic hill station of Munnar. Surrounded by endless tea gardens and cool mountain air, it felt like we had stepped into a dream.
- Stay: We chose a cozy hill-view resort with a private balcony overlooking the valley—ideal for quiet morning teas and late-night stargazing.
- Must-Do: A visit to Eravikulam National Park, a walk through Kolukkumalai Tea Estate, and sipping fresh cardamom tea at a local shop.
- Special Moment: Watching the sunrise at Top Station together—nature’s canvas painting hues of orange and pink while we held hands in silence.
🌿 Day 3-4: Thekkady – Adventure & Spice
Next, we headed to Thekkady, home to the famous Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary. This leg of the trip added a bit of thrill to our romance.
- Stay: A treehouse cottage surrounded by spice plantations.
- Highlights: A boat ride in Periyar Lake, visiting spice farms, and watching a thrilling Kalaripayattu (martial arts) show.
- Special Moment: Cooking a Kerala-style dinner together during a cooking class—it was messy, spicy, and full of laughter!
🚣♂️ Day 5: Alleppey – Floating in Love
One of the most magical parts of our Kerala journey was the houseboat stay in Alleppey. Just the two of us, drifting through serene backwaters, coconut palms swaying, and time slowing down.
- Stay: A traditional houseboat with candle-lit dinner onboard.
- Unmissable: Watching daily village life pass by from the deck, fresh seafood meals, and a sunset cruise on Vembanad Lake.
- Special Moment: Curling up together on the deck at night, under the stars, with the gentle ripples of the water lulling us to sleep.
🏖️ Day 6-7: Varkala – Romance by the Sea
We ended our trip in Varkala, a stunning cliffside beach town that was less crowded and more peaceful than we expected.
- Stay: A sea-facing cottage tucked into a cliff with a hammock outside.
- Things to Love: Swimming in the clear blue waters, exploring the cliffside cafes, and visiting the Janardhana Swamy Temple.
- Special Moment: Watching our last sunset in Kerala from the cliff—just the two of us, no phones, no distractions, only the sound of waves.
Final Thoughts 💕✨
Kerala gave us more than just scenic beauty—it gave us time to slow down, reconnect, and create memories that will last a lifetime. Whether it was sharing a cup of chai in the misty hills, laughing over a cooking mishap, or dancing under the stars on a houseboat, every moment felt like a new chapter in our love story.
If you’re planning a romantic escape with your partner, trust me—Kerala is pure magic.
